How do I book a Yacht charter?
You can book your charter simply through our website. First, you will select the location you would like to charter and once you choose a yacht you like, you can then put in a request for the booking. Your request will be handed to one of our brokers to set you up for your time on the water. Once your reservation is confirmed, with the date, time, yacht, and location selected, we will ask for credit card information to charge in which the broker will follow up with a charter agreement for you to sign.
When is my payment collected?
Once you confirm your reservation, your broker will process your payment. The payment will be made where a deposit of either 50% of the total cost or $1,000 USD of the reservation is processed to lock in your yacht charter reservation. The remainder of the amount due is processed a week (7 days) prior to your trip date. If you are booking for a single day, and your reservation is a week or less in advance, the total price of the reservation is processed immediately. Based on the Charter Agreement, once a payment is collected, it is non-refundable.
What is supplied aboard the yacht?
All of our yacht charters will be set up with water, cold beverages, and ice in addition to necessities such as towels, sunscreen, and toilet paper. Any additional supplies you are welcome to bring as well. We run half day and full day charters so assuming you will have a meal onboard, we suggest bringing any of your own food and drinks favorites so you can enjoy your time on the water to your liking. For our multi-day charters, your yacht broker will set up you up with the captain and crew so they can make preparations on the foods and beverages of your choice.
Are their specific hours the yacht charter can be on the water?
At most times of the day a yacht can sail on the water as long as visibility and appropriate weather conditions do not affect the charter. The charter must also be confirmed with your broker and caption in which you will decide on the best designated time for your charter to run. They will educate on what is possible based on the local boating laws.
How many additional guests are allowed on board?
Most yachts allow approval for cruise capacity of no more than 12 guests. This law is in place because local coast guards accept no more than 12 guests onboard a chartered yacht regardless of the size of the vessel.
If it happens to be that you have more than 12 guests in your group, you can work with your yacht broker on trying to find a boat that is certified to hold more guests. They can assist with setting up multiple boats so you can keep your party together, tying up the boats they anchor.
Is it required to tip the yacht crew?
Although it is not mandatory, it is appropriate to leave a gratuity tip, just like you would for any other hospitality service. Most brokers would suggest a tip of 15% of the charter fee for the work of the crew and the captain to be given at the end of a charter. Our company will automatically include a 15% gratuity charge for US charters and is given directly to the captain and crew of each charter, to be split accordingly.
Are children allowed on charters?
Children are most definitely allowed on charters and can make for an amazing family vacation. One may note that although they are allowed on the yacht, the crew is not responsible for their safety. If you need additional child care assistance, we would recommend you bring someone to assist to ensure your children are being taken care of.
Are pets allowed on board?
For health and safety reasons, typically pets are not allowed onboard. Animals can be uncomfortable on the water and get sea sick so we recommend you speak with your yacht broker to check in on the yacht’s pet policy. Pets on yacht charters are decided by the captain and crew, so if needed to be accompanied by your pet, it is best to include that information upon booking your yacht to avoid any future issues.
Is there smoking allowed aboard?
In general, smoking is not permitted inside most yachts, and completely forbidden in any staterooms or cabin. Yachts usually have a specific, designated smoking area on the deck or flybridge, but it is always advised to ask your captain and crew prior to smoking.
